The Ministry of Peshmerga issued a written statement regarding the attack carried out yesterday (April 5, 2026) by a terrorist group with four unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The statement noted that these attacks, particularly those carried out against areas under the control of Iraqi security forces, caused significant material and human losses to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq Administration and Peshmerga headquarters.

It was stated that, to date, the Iraqi Federal Government, its senior commanders responsible for border security, joint operations commanders, and other security units have not taken a clear stance against these terrorist attacks.

It was emphasized that the Peshmerga forces continue their fundamental duties and responsibilities in ensuring the security of the KRI and Iraq, and that these attacks will be swiftly punished, with the perpetrators apprehended as soon as possible.

The Ministry of Peshmerga stated that they would take all necessary measures for the security of the people of Iraq and the KRI, but if the federal government fails to adopt a more effective stance against such attacks, they would review their own defense strategies.
