US President Donald Trump stated that he is considering “a joint initiative with Iran” regarding the Strait of Hormuz, in a statement made after the temporary ceasefire reached between the US and Iran, which also includes Israel.

In a statement to ABC News, Trump stated that he was considering “a joint initiative with Iran” regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

To a question about whether he would allow Iran to charge fees from ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, Trump replied, “We are considering doing this as a joint initiative. This will be a way to ensure the security (of the Strait) and protect it from others. This is a good thing.”

Regarding Iran’s uranium enrichment capacity, Trump said, “There will be no uranium enrichment (in Iran).”

Trump stated that US soldiers would not leave the region, adding that he expected peace talks to begin on April 10 and that China also played a role in the temporary ceasefire process.

– Temporary Ceasefire Between US and Iran, Including Israel

In the process that escalated into war following Iran’s retaliations to attacks launched by the US and Israel on February 28, and Iran’s attacks on some regional countries, US President Donald Trump announced on April 8, around 01:30 AM, that he had accepted a ceasefire.

Trump stated that they accepted a two-week ceasefire on the condition that the Strait of Hormuz be opened, and that they received a 10-point proposal from Iran, which he considered a viable basis for negotiation.

The Iranian Supreme National Security Council, which stated that “Iran has achieved its war objectives,” also announced that the final negotiations are aimed to be concluded in Islamabad within a maximum of 15 days.

Turkey, Pakistan, and Egypt made intensive efforts to ensure the continuation and successful conclusion of the exchange of messages between the US and Iran.

The Israeli administration, which announced its support for the temporary ceasefire, however, maintained that the issue of Lebanon was not included in the agreement and continued its attacks on Lebanon.
