Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein stated that Iraq opposes the prolongation and expansion of the war in the region, but revealed that there is significant pressure on Iraq to drag it into the conflict.

The Iraqi Foreign Minister also noted that Iraq has suffered nearly 200 fatalities due to these tensions and has incurred massive material damage, adding that oil exports have been halted since the beginning of the war.

Regarding the armed groups, the Foreign Minister pointed out that efforts are ongoing to ensure that weapons remain exclusively in the hands of the state. He added that three armed groups have practically begun handing over their weapons, but the stance of “Kata’ib Hezbollah” and the “al-Nujaba Movement” regarding the surrender of their arms remains unresolved.

Fuad Hussein emphasized that Iraq wishes to maintain the best possible relations with the Gulf countries and would condemn any attack launched against them. He further stated that Baghdad is prepared for security cooperation and intelligence sharing with those nations.
